Dao De Jing, verse 4
Without origin

Dao is void and yet can be drawn upon without ever becoming exhausted.

It is the fathomless origin of the myriad beings. 
It can soften all sharpness and unravel all confusion. 
It assimilates all material dust into brilliant light.

Like a deep pool that can never be depleted. 
From where did Dao spring?
 I do not know; but it existed before the ruler of Heaven.
